Yorkshire based Rallycross driver Craig Lomax and his Extreme RX team headed to Knockhill circuit in Scotland for the first time in seven years.
The Cobra Exhaust backed driver drove a near perfect set of qualifying heats claiming second place in all three qualifying sessions. Despite heavy contact at the entrance to the loose section he maintained second place in Super1600. He stayed out from the joker on the first lap and grabbed the race lead, a position he would retain to cross the line and the round win.
Sunday saw the Scottish circuit bathed in brilliant sunshine, however all the other Super1600 competitors were suffering mechanical faults leaving Lomax to race on his own. This gave the team a great opportunity to collect race data in preparation for the next round.
These wins strengthen Lomax’s championship campaign. The Yorkshireman will be heading back to the spiritual home of rallycross, Lydden Hill in Kent over the weekend of 6th and 7th November where he will try and consolidate his championship lead.
Craig Lomax, #24: ‘Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Knockhill is a fast circuit and its great to be back after such a long time. Now we don’t go to Croft is the nearest one for us!
The plan was to go to Scotland and be consistent, well that just what we did thanks to the team. They were fantastic and this weekend is a testament on their commitment, I thank them and our sponsors from the bottom of my heart ‘
