It’s a complete balancing act for Olly at the moment as it’s right in the middle of exams which will determine his future college plans and race season, read his latest update here

I have always enjoyed driving at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire however in previous years it’s had a habit of spitting me out at some point. Last year, when I was here last, I did manage a third place. I have up most respect for its narrow undulation and plenty of twisty sections.

The team had set up the car brilliantly (Hammy) and I was making headway into qualifying, when the session was cut short having only done 2 laps and tyres just up to temperature, I settled for P2 and front row.

I got off to a good start in race 1 whilst others did not and soon slotted into 2nd place and taking the lead not long into the race. I was keen to get a gap on the others and extended this lead over the next couple of laps to 9 seconds before the race was discontinued due to an incident on the track. Fellow racer had a nasty impact and we were held on the starting grid for quite a while before the race was eventually restarted. Knowing how narrow the tarmac was I was not going to argue too much and push too hard on the first corner so slotted into second place before putting on the pressure on the leader. With a lap to go I was able to capitalise on the driver in front’s mistake and crossed the line the winner. Seriously chuffed with that as one mistake anywhere it could have been a different story.

I will be looking at my starts as had to slot into 2nd place by the first corner of race 2, I knew I had the pace to put on a good show. Overtaking on the goose neck, I went into the lead within the first lap and quickly followed by the original pole position rival. The two of us, the quickest drivers of the meeting extended the lead away from the rest of the field, and I worked hard (those gym sessions really do help) to bang out consistent fast laps and took a surprising second win.

To be honest Cadwell is hard, so to come away with this result and no scratches just shows how persistence and a good team are worth all the heart ache in previous years!

Exams start now and it’s taking it out of me more than 3 days driving! Trying to cram in what I can each night, I do get bored easily though and have a habit of procrastinating- so my mum says!

Snetterton is this week, but I have 4, Yes 4 exams on the Friday so I will be unable to attend the Friday practice session. Jumping straight into the Saturday will be a challenge, but I do Like Snetterton so I am really looking forward to see how I get on!

Best of luck for the exams Olly from all at TeamSamco.
