A hard fought weekend that left Olly with a great overall result.

A maiden trip to Pembrey Circuit South Wales saw plenty of sunshine and some more podiums which has extended my lead in the championship by 32 points. I am pleased I am where I am, but also know it’s a long way and another 12 races till the end of the season.

Good progress was made during practice on the Friday and Saturday morning sessions I was hoping to convert this to a pole position.

However, after the last practice we were gutted to hear that I picked up an issue with the engine and it was decided to forgo qualifying and to start race 1 at the rear of the grid. This gave my team, Jam Sport Racing and engineer Hammy (legend) more time to rectify the issue, change the engine and prepare for two promising races on the Sunday.

Its always nerve wracking when you see your car in pieces over a race weekend but probably more so for Hammy. The team were amazing, and I helped by cleaning the hoses and providing moral support of course with some good tunes! We had time for a track walk with some of the other members of the team and coach Jack Layton- a bit of down time to enjoy the ‘sunshine in Wales’??

Race 1 all got away safely and navigated the hair pin of turn one and I slotted into 5th place and started to make progress through the field.

Finishing 3rd overall, I was pleased with the decision to miss qualifying, knowing I had the pace and the experience to move through the grid and gain valuable point towards to championship.

Starting third on the grid for race two, I very keen to see what could be done. I got away well and moved up to second within a couple of laps. From there I made up ground on the leader who by about lap 5 picked up a technical issue and I who took over the lead and took the win!

It was great to have the lads from Samco Sport there with me on race day, spending time with the team and seeing what is involved and how hard the team work to prepare the car.

We stayed on a couple of days at Pembrey to make the most of the good weather, the beach and chill out, but we had to get back for a college open day on the Wednesday.

Its not long until Cadwell Park and only days away from the start of GCSE exams which I am really hoping to do well in so I can go to the college I want in September.

For now its head down in the books…well mostly…
