After a successful race the previous week at the MX Nationals, Harri, Dan and the team were excited for the British Championship to kick off at Fat Cat Motoparc near Doncaster.

Harri last contested the series in 2017, where he raced in four out of the eight MX1 rounds, finishing on the podium once. Harri also contested the full MX2 series in the same year and ended up third in the championship. Dan finished 10th in the 2017 and 2018 series and after a couple of injury hit seasons, is looking to move further into the top 10 this year.

Qualifying

With heavy rain overnight the track was tough going but very rideable. Harri set the 4th fastest lap time with Dan in 15th.

Race One

Both Harri and Dan rounded turn one inside the top ten, as Harri was third behind Shaun Simpson and Honda UK rider, Lewis Tombs. Harri went past Tombs early on lap one and hung on the Simpson, as the pair both pulled away from the chasing pack. Dan gated in 7th place until a few laps in a fall put him down to 16th. Simpson and Harri were in a class of their own, as Harri finished 2nd, nearly 50 seconds ahead of Tommy Searle in 3rd. Dan got back into a rhythm and made up two more places to finish 14th.

Race Two

A flying start for Harri as he rounded turn one in 2nd, behind local hero, Jake Millward. Simpson went past Harri on lap 2 to move him down to 3rd and then disaster struck on lap 3 as a broken chain ended Harri’s race. Dan didn’t have such a good start as he rounded turn one just outside the top 10, but an awesome first few laps saw Dan move to 5th place, behind Lewis Tombs. Around mid-race it looked like Dan might close down Tombs, until Ryan Houghton found some speed, closed Dan down, then made a pass with 2 laps to go. Dan was so determined to hold on to 6th place that he put in his fastest lap on the last lap of the race!

Harri’s results of 2-DNF, gave him 10th overall, while Dan’s 14-6 finishes gave him 8th overall.

A really good day for the team, as Harri showed he can run at the front, while Dan’s speed and fitness improves every week.
