Samco Sport is excited to be part of an ambitious new project with SB Motorsport and long-term partner Steve Baggsy Biagioni — a 1,000HP, competition-spec Toyota GR Corolla drift car.
A one-off build, this project will see one of the first GR Corolla models imported into the UK transformed into a full competition machine. At the heart of the build sits a 1,000HP 2JZ engine, developed by DY Engine Services, paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox from Quaife. The package is completed with high-end components throughout, including ST Suspension XTA plus 3 coilovers, custom forged wheels from STRÖM, and a striking wide-body kit.
SB Motorsport has built a reputation for pushing boundaries, with previous headline-grabbing builds including the Nissan Navara-R and a 7.4-litre turbocharged LSX V8-powered R35 GT-R. This latest GR Corolla project looks set to continue that trend — combining extreme performance with standout design.
For Samco Sport, this project represents another exciting chapter in a long-standing partnership. We have proudly supported Baggsy since 2016, working together across multiple builds and events. Being involved in a project of this scale is something we’re genuinely excited about, as it showcases the level of engineering, performance and creativity that defines modern motorsport.
Samco Sport silicone hose technology will play a key role in the build, ensuring reliability and performance under the extreme demands of competitive drifting — where heat, pressure and precision all come into play.
Steve “Baggsy” Biagioni said:
“I’m beyond excited with this project, the Corolla is steeped in Toyota’s history and with the help of our partners, we’re able to take on the latest model and take it to the next level. Our team here at SB Motorsport are going full throttle with this build and I can’t wait to show you the finished article.”
The car is expected to make its first public appearance at the world-renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed, where fans will get to see the GR Corolla in action for the very first time.
We’ll be following the build closely as it develops, with updates covering everything from engine development and suspension setup to final livery and on-track performance.
Stay tuned to Samco Sport channels for exclusive behind-the-scenes content as this incredible project comes to life.
